Jerry Thornton joins WEEI online and on air

BOSTON, MA – Sports Radio WEEI, New England's most listened-to sports radio brand, has announced the addition of Jerry Thornton as an on-air host and digital columnist and blogger for the station's popular website, Thornton had been active on the station as a part-time program host and was a frequent contributor to He'll now play a permanent role as the third member of WEEI's Dale & Holley afternoon program, weekdays from 2-6 p.m.  

Thornton says he's honored to join WEEI as a full-time cohost and writer. "It's not often a cultural institution like 'EEI takes a chance on a guy with no journalism background, no formal training and no discernible talent," he said with his trademark humor. "I'm grateful to Entercom and glad a lifetime spent listening to the station and reading has paid off."

Besides his reputation as a prolific sports journalist, Thornton is also known across New England as a very popular stand-up comedian.

The WEEI Network is heard across New England on affiliate stations from Providence, Rhode Island, to Portland, Maine, while is viewed by more than 1 million unique visitors every month. Thornton will work from the station's studio and digital hub at Boston's 93.7 WEEI-FM. His first day on the air will be Monday, Nov. 17.
