WEEI Vice President of Programming Jason Wolfe to Receive Boston Red Sox Jimmy Fund Award

August 25, 2011 - 12:10 pm

Boston, MA (August 25, 2011) - Jason Wolfe, Vice President of AM programming for Entercom New England, will be honored on August 31 with the Boston Red Sox Jimmy Fund Award during the pre-game ceremony at Fenway Park. This award is the highest honor bestowed upon Jimmy Fund supporters and will be presented to Wolfe, WEEI and NESN in recognition of the 10th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon. The Boston Red Sox Jimmy Fund Award is given to individuals and/or organizations that have had a substantial commitment to the lifesaving mission of Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund.

In 2002, Wolfe was looking for a way to create a signature fundraising event for WEEI, that would use the power of the radio station to give back to the community in a significant way.  After meeting with Mike Andrews, former chairman of the Jimmy Fund, the decision was made to join forces and raise public awareness for the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Wolfe said, “I am incredibly honored to receive this award. It’s been a privilege to work with Mike, Lisa, Suzanne and everyone at the Jimmy Fund in producing an event that does so much good for so many wonderful people who need our help. I’m very lucky to have played a part in its success, and I want to thank the WEEI listeners and the NESN viewers for their amazing support over the last nine years. It’s their donations that have helped make such a difference and have saved so many lives.”

The WEEI/ NESN Radio-Telethon has grown tremendously under Jason’s leadership, and both organizations will also be honored that night for their dedication and commitment to such a worthy cause. Over the past 9 years, the Radio-Telethon has raised more than $25 million to support adult and pediatric care and cancer research at Dana-Farber.
