WEEI Wins RAIN Internet Radio Award

Best Streaming Broadcast Station Honor goes to Entercom’s WEEI 93.7 FM

Orlando, FL – Last night, WEEI Sports Radio received the award for Best Streaming Broadcast Station at the RAIN Awards ceremony held at the conclusion of the Radio and Internet Newsletter Summit in Orlando, Fla. Over 100 services made entries for this year’s RAIN Awards, sponsored by Triton Digital. WEEI topped both WBZ-AM and ESPN Radio to take home its honor in the Best Streaming Broadcast Station category.

“This recognition centers on the quality of our audio programming at WEEI,” said Tim Murphy, Vice President of Digital Strategy and Enterprise Platforms for Entercom, who accepted the award on behalf of WEEI. “This is a tremendous award for an amazing brand, and our incredible team of talent and producers who do an amazing job covering Boston sports. The entire WEEI team is incredibly innovative at distributing our content through industry leading strategies regarding search optimization, mobile distribution and social engagement.”

About the Best Streaming Broadcast RAIN Award: For the single broadcast station that has executed the best streaming strategy. Judges may consider ways that the station has extended and enhanced its brand through the use of online streaming. The RAIN Internet Radio Awards recognize the achievements and the best practices of the Internet radio industry. Limited to AM or FM broadcasters that stream online, this award was one of two ESPN Radio took home last year.

One of the premiere learning, sharing and networking events of the year for internet radio professionals, this year’s RAIN Summit featured Entercom president and CEO David Field as its keynote speaker.
