Scott McLaughlin

Scott McLaughlin interned at WEEI.com in 2011, and two years later they realized they missed him and hired him full-time. Scott spent those two years wandering from rink to rink while writing for Inside Hockey and College Hockey News. His work has also appeared on NESN.com and FOXSports.com and in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and Christian Science Monitor. Scott graduated from Boston University and used to stare longingly at his old dorm from the WEEI offices before his view was blocked by new buildings.

Generally, if a goalie gives up three goals in the third period, it would be hard to argue he had a great game. But in the Bruins ' 4-3 Game 5 win over the Blue Jackets Saturday night, Tuukka Rask gave up three goals in the third period and still had a great game, continuing his terrific stretch of...

The Blue Jackets lost Game 5 in heartbreaking fashion when David Pastrnak scored what proved to be the winner for the Bruins with 1:28 to go, and they now face elimination as the series moves to Columbus for Game 6 Monday night. But Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella liked what he saw from his team...

Welcome to the NHL, where you can review whether a play is offsides by a millimeter long before the goal was even scored, but you can't review a puck clearly going out of play just seconds before a goal was scored. If that seems incredibly dumb, it's because it is. The Bruins fell victim to said...

In Round 1, the Bruins power play could produce -- and produce a lot -- without being perfect. The Maple Leafs' penalty kill was awful, so even if the B's made an errant pass here or hesitated to shoot there, they were still going to get enough good looks that scoring felt almost inevitable. They...

The Bruins killed off one penalty in the first overtime, but they couldn't kill off a second in the second OT. With Patrice Bergeron in the box for a trip committed on the forecheck, Matt Duchene buried a rebound after Tuukka Rask had stopped Artemi Panarin's one-time bid to give the Blue Jackets a...

For most of the Bruins ’ first-round series against the Maple Leafs, the Patrice Bergeron line and John Tavares line played each other to a draw. Sure, the two teams’ respective top lines each had games they “won” over the course of the series (Games 1 and 3 for Tavares; Games 4 and 6 for Bergeron...

Julian Edelman first got the TD Garden crowd fired up when he served as the Bruins ' honorary banner captain before Tuesday's Game 7, a 5-1 Bruins win . He then got the crowd even more fired up when he appeared on the jumbotron late in the first period and promptly chugged a beer. Julian Edelman...

It will be a quick turnaround between series for the Bruins. After beating the Maple Leafs 5-1 in Tuesday night's Game 7 to close out the first round, the B's will open the second round less than 48 hours later when they host Game 1 against the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday night at 7 p.m. The...
