After another puzzling loss last week, the Patriots will look to get on track at home this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have gotten off to a strong 3-0 start this season, thanks to some timely plays by quarterback Ryan Tannehill and an improved defense led by Kiko Alonso. The only playoff team from last year the Dolphins have played thus far is the Titans, but they were with a limited Marcus Mariota.

Though reports indicated that newly acquired receiver Josh Gordon could have made his Patriots debut last Sunday, Bill Belichick emphasized that the team was waiting until both parties felt like Gordon was ready to lace up. It's still unclear how much of an impact Gordon could make given his unfamiliarity with the playbook and a lingering hamstring injury, but Patriots fans are still eager to see Gordon play.

Last week the Patriots struggled on both sides of the football. Defensively, the Patriots facilitated Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford’s best game of the season, and brought Detroit’s run game back to life after what seemed like years of hibernation. Offensively, the the team looked out of sync. The lack of a strong ground game and multiple instances of miscommunication between Brady and his receivers plagued the Patriots.

This week’s familiar AFC matchup could be conducive to a much-needed Patriots victory. Miami’s defense is still porous, its offense is unproven and the Patriots will return home for the first time in three weeks looking to get back to .500.

The game also marks Danny Amendola's first game against his former team after signing with Miami this offseason. Amendola has started all three games this season and has 11 receptions in an offense that has spread the ball around to Amendola, fellow wideouts Kenny Stills, Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant, and running back Kenyan Drake.
