Who's swinging the lumber? Xander Bogaerts sets career highs in home runs and RBIs

Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts cemented himself among Major League Baseball's best offensive shortstops after setting career highs in home runs and RBIs on Wednesday.

While Bogaerts has not received as much attention as Mookie Betts or J.D. Martinez, he has quietly put together one of the best offensive seasons by a Red Sox shortstop in franchise history. Bogaerts’ 100 RBIs mark only the sixth time a Red Sox shortstop has eclipsed triple digits.

Since the All-Star Break, Bogaerts has shown steady improvement behind the plate. His OPS has improved every month since April, and his timely hitting could not be coming at a better time for the Red Sox, who could be primed for a deep postseason run.
