The biggest Patriots news to come out of the weekend was the postgame confirmation from Rob Gronkowski that he threatened to retire if the Patriots traded him to the Lions last offseason. But Bill Belichick says he’s unaware of Gronk’s comments.

In his weekly interview Monday with OMF, Belichick pleaded ignorance about the ordeal. “To be honest with you, I haven’t read the commentary from yesterday. So I guess I’m a little behind on that.”

When Gronkowski was asked about Adam Schefter’s report, he confirmed he didn’t want to play for the Lions, and said Tom Brady is “his quarterback.” Belichick, predictably, didn’t wish to delve into the story at all.

“I’m really focused on the team and what we need to do this week for Miami,” Belichick said. “I’m not going to get into last month, last year, two years ago, 10 years ago. There’s a question about that every day, but Miami is on my mind right now.”

In addition, Belichick also says he hasn’t seen video of Jimmy Garoppolo’s ACL tear, and wouldn’t say whether he’s been in communication with his ex-quarterback, whom he reportedly texted after every San Francisco victory last season.

“Any conversations that I have between anybody will be between me and that person –– coach, player, former player, whomever that is,” Belichick said.
