Lane Johnson takes another shot at Patriots after Eagles opening night win

Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson never misses an opportunity to take an unsolicited shot at the Patriots.

Midway through the third quarter of the Eagles’ 18-12 victory over the Falcons Thursday, Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles handed the football to Corey Clement, who flipped the ball to Nelson Agholor, who proceeded to throw the ball to Foles.

It was reminiscent of the Philly Special they ran in the Super Bowl, when Foles caught a touchdown pass from tight end Trey Burton.

After the game, however, Johnson compared the trickery to another play that made an appearance in the Super Bowl. Tom Brady ran out for a route and dropped a pass from Danny Amendola. The cocky right tackle was sure to point out the difference.

“It was the same play the Patriots used. The one that Tom dropped,” he told WIP after the game.

Class act all around. If Matt Ryan could actually complete a touchdown pass in the red zone, Johnson probably would’ve been singing a different tune.
