Mut fires back at WGBH's Jim Braude for saying he's not 'ready for primetime'

Add WGBH’s Jim Braude to the long list of people who are doubting the Mut Man. On Braude’s radio program Friday, the longtime public radio host doubted Mike Mutnansky’s ability to host a daily show in morning drive, saying he’s “not ready for primetime.”

Unsurprisingly, Mut responded to Braude on Monday. “I've just been part of a show that's been highly successful, been part of a station that's been highly successful, and been plugged in here to this show,” he said. “That's all I've done –– shown up every single day, and been here and been accountable no matter what's happened, who's been here, who hasn't been here, filling in for the two loudest voices on the station for going on two years now. That's all I've done in a primetime spot. So maybe (Braude) is right. Maybe I should be on 11-2 talking about the bike lanes here in Boston and not worry about ratings, because it doesn't matter. The checks keep coming anyway.”

Mutnansky offered similar comments Friday, lashing back at the hosts of OMF, who are also uncertain about whether he can slide alongside Gerry Callahan on a full-time basis. Kirk Minihane, as we know, has made a career out of making his critics eat their words. Let’s see if Mut can do the same.
