LeBron James is thinking about playing for another team in the Eastern Conference besides the Cavaliers next season, according to a new report about the three-time champion’s free agent wish list.

James can decline his $35.6 million player option and hit the open market this summer. The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor reports the four teams James is considering are the Cavaliers, Rockets, Lakers and 76ers, per league sources.

To state the obvious, it would be a boon for the Celtics if James were to take his talents to the Western Conference. But given the Cavaliers’ second half resurgence, which was spurned by the Isaiah Thomas trade, it seems increasingly possible James could re-sign with Cleveland. He’s averaging 27 points, nine assists and 8.4 rebounds per game this season.

The 76ers have been connected to James for the last few months, given their young and promising nucleus. But false rumors about James looking for schools in Philadelphia may have hurt their recruitment efforts. Last week, James called the conjecture “disgusting.”

That leaves the Rockets and Lakers. Houston, which has won 17 straight games, gives James the best chance to win instantly. The Lakers, of course, offer the allure of the Purple and Gold.

For once, the Celtics are likely hoping the Lakers win out.
