Tyreek Hill told his fiancee she "needs to be terrified" of him when she confronted him about their 3-year-old son’s broken arm, per a recorded conversation between the two that was leaked to KCTV5 in Kansas City. The 11-minute back-and-forth seemingly occurred in the aftermath of police’s second visit to Hill’s residence, which he shares with Crystal Espinal, last month. Law enforcement were called to the house to investigate reports of battery and child abuse on March 5 and March 14. The young boy was listed as a victim in the second police report.

Within the conversation, Espinal accuses Hill of beating their child, saying he “punches him in the chest” and uses a belt to discipline the toddler. In perhaps the most chilling exchange, Hill appears to threaten Espinal when she says their son is afraid of him.

"He is terrified of you,” Espinal says.

“You need to be terrified of me, too, bitch,” Hill responded. “That’s why you can't keep a f— man.”

Espinal surreptitiously recorded the audio at Dubai International Airport and then provided it to a friend before somebody else gave it to the station, the New York Times explains

Earlier this week, prosecutors in Johnson County, Kansas said they weren’t going to file charges against Hill or Espinal. District Attorney Steve Howe did acknowledge their son was injured, but said they couldn’t determine who was culpable.

“A child has been hurt,” Howe said, via the Kansas City Star. “So, yes, as a prosecutor, as a father of four kids, yes, it frustrates me when someone hurts a child that you can’t do anything about it.”

At one point in the conversation, Espinal appears to suggest she covered for Hill when investigators spoke to her about the incident.

"I rode for you against that detective and the (Child and Protective Services) people,” she said. “They said time and time again that he literally kept saying 'Daddy punches me.’”

It was reported last week the child was removed from the household. At the NFL Draft Thursday, commissioner Roger Goodell told ESPN's Sam Ponder the league was "waiting to get the facts."

The Chiefs selected Hill in the fifth-round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The dynamic wideout fell to the draft’s third day, because of a domestic violence charge that resulted in his expulsion from the Oklahoma State football team. In 2014, Hill was arrested for beating and strangling Espinal, who was eight weeks pregnant at the time. He pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery.
