Red Sox top prospect Bobby Dalbec took one step towards the majors over the weekend, as he was promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket after hitting well with Double-A Portland.

Dalbec was top-five in the Eastern League in several categories, including walks, homers, slugging percentage and OPS, enough to earn him a move up the ladder. The young third baseman got off to a good start in Triple-A, going 3-for-8 over his first two games, singling three times.

Mata roughed up in Portland

While his Portland teammate Dalbec was promoted over the weekend, top pitching prospect Bryan Mata had a rough go in Double-A on Sunday, allowing four earned runs and five hits without retiring a batter in his worst start as a professional.

The Venezuelan right-hander has been up and down in Portland, with some stellar starts mixed in with a couple of shellings, as he continues to work his way back from a slight shoulder issue that kept him out earlier in the year.
