Making his first appearance with Class A Lowell, Red Sox top pick Cameron Cannon struggled on Monday, going 0-for-4.

Cannon wasn't great in three appearances in the Gulf Coast League, hitting notching only one hit and striking out five times in nine at-bats in Fort Myers. It's been a tough start to professional life for Cannon, but it's obviously very early for one of Boston's top hitting prospects.

Houck makes debut in Pawtucket

Starting his transition to the bullpen as the Red Sox look for help at the major league level, Tanner Houck made his first relief appearance for Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday, throwing a scoreless — if unconvincing — inning against the Louisville Bats.

Houck, who posted solid numbers as a starter in Double-A, walked two batters but got out of the inning unscathed, needing 24 pitches to do so.
