With the Red Sox reportedly sent a scout to Detroit as the team monitors reliever Shane Greene, the asking price became more clear as the Tigers are believed to have asked for Nationals' top prospect Carter Kieboom as Washington is also in the market for a reliever, according to MLB.com's Jamal Collier.

As the Nats' top prospect, Kieboom is the No. 22 prospect in baseball according to Baseball America, representing a very high price tag for a short-term rental in Greene. By comparison, Boston's top three prospects, Triston Casas, Bryan Mata and Bobby Dalbec, are enter the list at 74, 88 and 95 respectively, suggesting a trade for Greene would be very difficult without giving up at the very least one, and very likely two of the organization's top prospects.

Greene has put together a stellar season in Detroit, with a 1.25 ERA in 36 innings, but lacks any sort of real track record having never had another season approaching his 2019 success.
