Report: Cowboys hire Mike McCarthy, eliminating potential Josh McDaniels landing spot

Now that the season is officially over in New England, Patriots’ offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is interviewing this week with the Panthers, Browns and Giants for those teams’ vacant head coaching jobs.

Previously, there were reports that McDaniels might also be a candidate for the top job with the Cowboys.

But, according to various reports, Dallas has already settled on its replacement for Jason Garrett and will be hiring former Packers Super Bowl-winning coach Mike McCarthy.


Pro Football Talk reported over the weekend that the Patriots expect McDaniels to be leaving the team this offseason assuming that he’s offered one of the vacant jobs he’s interviewing for.
