There are plenty of strong opinions and predictions regarding the post-Tom Brady Patriots.

Listen to your team news NOW.

But none may be stronger than the one found on NFL.com recently in a story offering up some bold predictions for the 2020 football season.

The list of nine bold predictions is led off by NFL.com declaring that the Patriots are set to “collapse” this season and be in line for a “top-five pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.”

In fact, NFL.com declares that thanks to roster of talent “that just isn’t that good,” and no longer having Brady as “the G.O.A.T. to serve as the ultimate deodorant for what stinks,” the Patriots will be near the cellar in the league’s standings come January.

Sure there is an acknowledgment of Bill Belichick greatness as a coach, but there is also the obvious issue of talent departures – Brady, Kyle Van Noy and Jamie Collins lead that list – as well as an aging core of remaining contributors.

It’s June. It’s a bold take, but NFL.com doesn’t think it’s “truly audacious” to believe the Patriots are in for their worst season in two decades in 2020.

“This season in Foxborough has 5-11 written all over it. If everything breaks right,” NFL.com writes. “I think the Jaguars, Patriots and Giants are the three worst teams in the NFL right now.”
