Patriots second-year running back Sony Michel was absent from New England’s OTAs and mandatory minicamp this spring due to a reported knee surgery, but according to a fresh report from NFL Network the former first-round pick is “progressing quickly” through the recovery process.

With Michel having dealt with knee issues dating back to his time at Georgia, and after missing time in both training camp and the regular season during his otherwise impressive rookie campaign to knee injuries, the absence seemed a possible reason for concern.

But NFL Network paints a more optimistic picture, writing in a tweet that Michel is “progressing quickly since his most recent arthroscopic knee surgery and has been running full tilt.” It goes on to indicate that Michel – who rush for more than 900 yards during the 2018 regular season and then was a key cog in the New England run to a Super Bowl ring – is also working out at the TB12 training facility in Foxborough run by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
