ESPN reports that New England has cut safety Obi Melifonwu and tight end Lance Kendricks, the latter of whom served a NFL suspension in Week 1 and therefore did not count on the 53-man roster.

After the Melifonwu cut, the expected Brown signing will bring the Patriots back to 53 on the roster, including eight wide receivers: Brown, Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, Demaryius Thomas, Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski and special teams captain Matthew Slater.
