A day after New England reportedly reached a deal to re-sign veteran Ben Watson, the team is apparently adding another tight end to its mix.

Listen to your team news NOW.

According to NFL Network the Patriots are signing former Giants and Jets tight end Eric Tomlinson.

This comes after veteran tight end Matt LaCosse limped off the field following New England’s game last Thursday night and is reportedly dealing with a knee injury, leaving second-year player Ryan Izzo as the only healthy player on the depth chart prior to the recent Watson and Tomlinson moves.

Tomlinson is a 6-6, 263-pound former 2015 undrafted free agent out of Texas-El Paso. He played three seasons for the Jets from 2016-18, starting 12 games in both 2017 and 2018. He spent three games with the Giants last September but has not played since.

Tomlinson has started 29 of 39 career games, catching a total of 16 passes for 193 yards and one touchdown.
