Patriots wide receiver Phillip Dorsett left Sunday’s win in Washington in the first quarter with hamstring injury and did not return.

Listen to your team news NOW.

According to ESPN, the injury is “minor” in nature and the receiver will be “week to week” at this point.

Though this is good news over the long run given New England’s rather limited weapons at receiver, the fact that the Patriots have a short week to prepare for Thursday night’s battle with the Giants at Gillette Stadium very much puts Dorsett’s status for the New York game in question.

Dorsett ranks fourth on the Patriots with 15 receptions on 23 targets this season for 197 yards with three touchdowns. He was not targeted on Sunday against the Redskins prior to leaving with the injury and had just two catches on nine targets two weeks ago in the win in Buffalo.

If Dorsett is indeed sidelined against the Giants, it pushes undrafted rookie receiver Jakobi Meyers up the depth chart, while also likely putting even more passing game weight on the shoulders of the tight ends and running backs.
