Tom Brady did not play in the Patriots preseason opener last week against the Lions and according to multiple reports the New England starter will also sit out Saturday night’s second preseason game in Tennessee.

Brady did play in the second week of preseason action a year ago, but the Patriots did not hold joint practice sessions last summer.

Other factors that could play a role in the decision for TB12 to stay sidelined once again include a short week leading up to the “dress rehearsal” third preseason game this coming Thursday night at Gillette Stadium, a limited corps of receivers to throw to and the potential that second-year tackle Isaiah Wynn could be making his summer debut to knock off the rust on the left side after missing his entire rookie season and much of the offseason due to a torn Achilles.

Brady said earlier this week in an appearance on the Greg Hill Show on WEEI that he did not enjoy watching from the sidelines in Detroit and that he would be lobbying to play against the Titans. Apparently those efforts did not pay off.
