Gronkowski’s first assignment will be Thursday night’s game between the Patriots and Giants at Gillette Stadium.

Tom Brady wasn’t aware of the announcement regarding his former tight end’s future when he took the microphone for his weekly press conference, which would seem to put to rest ideas that Gronkowski might be coming out of retirement at some point this fall to re-join New England.

“Nice,” Brady responded when told of Gronk’s new job. “He’ll be good. He’s been pretty good at everything he’s done. So, he’s a…yeah, I didn’t know that. Good for him. That’s a great opportunity.”

Brady seems to be looking forward to his first chance to cross paths with Gronkowski as an analyst on Thruday night.

“Good, hard hitting analysis?,” Brady jokingly questioned. “That’s great. It’s great to see a lot of our guys get a lot of great opportunities like that.”

As Brady alluded to, he has a long list of former teammates working in the media both locally and nationally. Just this season, Rob Ninkovich joined ESPN, while Gronkowski is now headed to FOX.
