Jimmy Garoppolo spent three-plus seasons learning from Tom Brady as the backup quarterback in New England, including during two successful trips to the Super Bowl.

Now, Garoppolo is in the driver’s seat for the 49ers as the team hits Super Bowl LIV week in Miami looking to add a record-tying – joining his former Patriots team and the Steelers -- sixth Lombardi Trophy to the franchise’s resume.

Off trying to create his own legacy in the biggest game in sports, Garoppolo admitted during an interview on NFL Network at Super Bowl Opening Night that he’s already gotten some advice from Brady. As he’s wont to do, the G.OA.T. kept his words of wisdom pretty simple.

“Yeah, he shot me a text," Garoppolo revealed in an interview with Michael Irvin in Miami. "Just good luck and everything like that. Go handle business. It wasn't anything complicated. It was just, 'Go handle business. Go win.'"

If Garoppolo can do just that Sunday evening against the Chiefs at Hard Rock Stadium in his first Super Bowl start he’ll collect his third Super Bowl ring. The first two came as a direct result of Brady’s actions, maybe this one will come somewhat indirectly from the guidance and advice TB12 has offered up over the years, including this week.
