Bonus material: Nolan Ryan in Japan

As mentioned (albeit in passing) in the previous post, Daisuke Matsuzaka is the only pitcher other than Nolan Ryan to have 18 wins and a sub-3.00 ERA in a season in which he allowed at least five walks a game. That was the meaning behind my suggestion that the control-challenged-yet-unhittable (more or less) Matsuzaka is "The Japanese Nolan Ryan."  But what would have happened if Nolan Ryan had been the one to cross the Pacific? How would The Ryan Express have fared in Japan? Happily, we have an answer...albeit in an unexpected context. Last summer, Ryan went to Japan to participate in a "Beef makes you strong" promotion. This is not a joke.
