Friday Red Sox farm report: Rusney Castillo singles twice to increase league-leading batting average

Here are all the happenings from Thursday night in the Red Sox farm system.

TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (49-59): L, 5-4 at Syracuse

-The PawSox scored a run in the ninth, 10th, and 11th innings, yet could not hold the lead in extra innings.

-Center fielder Rusney Castillo went 2-5, increasing his average to a league leading .323.

-First baseman Sam Travis notched two hits, an RBI, and scored a run.

DOUBLE-A PORTLAND SEA DOGS (45-63): W, 5-0 vs. Erie

-Starting pitcher Kyle Hart dealt a gem, notching his first career shutout. He pitched all seven innings (game shortened due to postponement from 8/1), allowing only two hits and two walks while striking out five. 

-Catcher Austin Rei hit a two run home run, his sixth of the season. He increased his OPS to .800.

-Four of Portland's five runs were scored with two outs.

HIGH-A SALEM RED SOX (50-57): Postponed due to rain

SINGLE-A GREENVILLE DRIVE (47-62): Postponed due to rain

SHORT SEASON-A LOWELL SPINNERS (24-22): W, 5-3 at Tri City

-Right fielder Tyler Dearden smashed his third home run of the season. He raised his OPS to .788. 

-Starting pitcher Eduard Bazardo earned his fifth win, striking out five in 5 2/3 innings of work while surrendering two earned runs. He owns a 2.36 ERA and hitters only average .195 against him.

-Kris Jackson notched his third save. He has not allowed a run in seven innings with the Spinners.
