Wednesday Red Sox Farm Report: Michael Chavis has 4-hit night

Here are all the happenings from Tuesday night in the Red Sox farm system.

TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (52-60): W, 3-2 at Louisville

- Starting pitcher Josh A. Smith dealt seven innings, only allowing two runs. He struck out five in the effort.

- Relief pitcher Bobby Poyner recorded his fourth save. He lowered his ERA to 2.16 in 33 1/3 innings this season.

- Center fielder Rusney Castillo went 2-for-4 with a run scored. He increased his average to a league-leading .324.

DOUBLE-A PORTLAND SEA DOGS (46-66): L, 5-3 at Erie

- Third baseman Michael Chavis singled all four times he stepped up to the plate, raising his batting average to .250.

- Designated hitter Bobby Dalbec struck out twice and did not record a hit. He is hitting .333 in four games since his promotion to Portland.

- Starting pitcher Matthew Kent allowed five earned runs and 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings of work. He took the loss, moving his record to 7-8.

HIGH-A SALEM RED SOX (53-58): W, 7-0 vs. Wilmington

- Shortstop C.J. Chatham went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, two runs, and a stolen base. The homer was just his third of the season.

- Starting pitcher Jake Thompson pitched six scoreless innings. He improved to 5-10 after the win.

- Second baseman Brett Netzer had two hits, including a double, and scored twice. He improved his average to .295.

SINGLE-A GREENVILLE DRIVE (49-65): L, 6-4 at Columbia

- The Drive committed three errors in the contest, which amounted in one unearned run.

- Starting pitcher Jhonathan Diaz surrendered six run in 4 1/3 innings of work. He has tagged for eight hits and struck out five. The effort ballooned his ERA to 3.71.

- First baseman Pedro Castellanos singled twice and drove in two runs, raising his season RBI total to 20.

SHORT SEASON-A LOWELL SPINNERS (26-24): Suspended due to rain
