This will be Blakeman's second New England game of the season. He was the head official for the Patriots win over the Cowboys in Dallas earlier the year. Blakeman has gained a small measure of infamy in New England the last few years: He was the alternate official for the 2014 AFC title game between the Patriots and Colts, and was mentioned prominently in the Wells Report as the official who took the air pressure measurements in the footballs before the game. In addition, he was the lead official in last year's Patriots-Panthers game where a disputed pass interference call at the end of regulation sealed a New England loss, one that caused quarterback Tom Brady to follow Blakeman off the field, cursing much of the way. Here's a look at who has worked as the lead official for each Patriots' game this year and the corresponding penalties for each game, not counting the flags that were offset or declined. Sept. 10 vs. Steelers: Carl Cheffers -- 7 penalties, 64 yards (Pittsburgh -- 8 penalties, 77 yards) Sept. 20 at Bills: Ronald Torbert -- 11 penalties, 119 yards (Buffalo -- 14 penalties, 140 yards) Sept. 27 vs. Jaguars: Walt Coleman -- 4 penalties, 30 yards (Jacksonville -- 7 penalties, 114 yards) Oct. 11 vs. Cowboys: Clete Blakeman 9 penalties, 65 yards (Dallas -- 7 penalties, 50 yards) Oct. 18 vs. Colts: Tony Corrente -- 8 penalties, 72 yards (Indy -- 11 penalties, 103 yards) Oct. 25 vs. Jets: Bill Vinovich -- 4 penalties, 38 yards (New York Jets -- 4 penalties, 29 yards) Oct. 29 vs. Dolphins: Pete Morelli -- 8 penalties, 69 yards (Miami -- 7 penalties, 40 yards) Nov. 8 vs. Redskins: Terry McAualay -- 6 penalties, 43 yards (Washington -- 4 penalties, 27 yards) Nov. 15 at Giants: Ed Hochuli -- 7 penalties, 93 yards (New York Giants -- 8 penalties, 49 yards) Nov. 23 vs. Bills: Gene Steratore -- 5 penalties, 61 yards (Buffalo -- 5 penalties, 44 yards) Nov. 29 at Broncos: Tony Corrente -- 5 penalties, 47 yards (Denver -- 6 penalties, 46 yards) Dec. 6 vs. Eagles: Pete Morelli -- 3 penalties, 30 yards (Philadelphia -- 8 penalties, 97 yards) Dec. 13 at Texans: Jeff Triplette -- 6 penalties, 46 yards (Houston -- 4 penalties, 36 yards) Dec. 20 vs. Titans: Walt Coleman -- 5 penalties, 35 yards (Tennessee -- 3 penalties, 29 yards) For more on Blakeman's work, check out his page here at Pro Football Reference.
