Friday Red Sox Farm Report: Brandon Workman perfect with PawSox

Here’s what happened in the Red Sox farm system on Thursday.

TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (58-63): W, 8-2 vs Durham

-- Ivan De Jesus Jr. smacked a grand slam in the first inning on the first pitch he saw since returning from the DL.

-- Starter Josh Smith went a career-long seven innings of one-run baseball to earn his eighth win of the season.

-- Red Sox reliever Brandon Workman made his first appearance for Pawtucket since being sent down by throwing a 12-pitch 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.

DOUBLE-A PORTLAND SEA DOGS (52-68): W, 3-2 vs Trenton

-- Chad De La Guerra launched a solo homer in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and ultimately gave the Sea Dogs the win.

-- Starter Daniel McGrath went a season-high six innings, allowing one run on three hits and bringing his record up to 2-3.

-- Reliever Adam Lau pitched a perfect ninth inning, earning his second save on the season.

HIGH-A SALEM RED SOX (57-63): W, 7-3 vs Frederick

-- Denyi Reyes impressed Thursday night with another great start. The starter hurled seven innings allowing two runs on four hits and striking out six.

-- Reyes is now 2-1 with Salem in 17 innings pitched with a 2.55 ERA.

-- The Red Sox scored seven runs on 12 hits, right fielder Victor Acosta led the way with two RBI’s.

SINGLE-A GREENVILLE DRIVE (55-67): W, 4-2 vs Greensboro

-- Starter Emmanuel De Jesus matched a career-high ten strikeouts in a winning effort.

-- The lefty hurled seven innings of two-run baseball on seven hits on his way to his seventh win.

-- Zach Sterry launched his first home run of the season, a two-run shot that put the Drive ahead for good.  


-- Thad Ward didn’t make it through the second inning, allowing six runs on seven hits bringing his ERA up to 3.76.

-- Lowell was 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.
