A video recently surfaced on Instagram that shows former NFL wideout Terrell Owens trash-talking former NBA player Sam Cassell and within that rant he took a shot at the Patriots.

“I beat you, Sam. I beat you. I beat you. I ain’t cheat you. You sound like the Patriots. I don’t care about the Patriots,” Owens said. “Belichick, Brady – they cheaters. They cheated. They cheated.”

A few days later, Owens explained that he was just joking. TMZ Sports found the Hall of Fame wide receiver and asked if he wanted to clarify what he meant.

“I said tongue-in-cheek that they were cheaters. It’s not anything that hasn’t been discussed,” Owens said. “But it was just a friendly conversation, I was joking. But everybody saw the clip and thought I was for real about it.”

It’s obvious there’s a good chance the often outspoken Owens was just messing around with Cassell, now an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers. But it just goes to show that even in retirement when Owens starts talking, people are going to listen.
