Defense Holding Up, Offense Struggles To Move

September 19, 2009 - 8:57 am

It looks like it will come down to the defenses. Boston College is doing its best to contain the explosive Clemson duo of C.J. Spiller and Jacoby Ford and, except for Spiller's punt return for a touchdown, have been doing pretty well. They are also getting a little help from Kyle Parker. The Tigers' redshirt freshman quarterback has now thrown two interceptions, the first by Wes Davis and the second by Dominick LeGrande and the Eagles defense has held tenuous containment of the rest of the Clemson offense. So far Spiller has five rushes for 25 yards and Ford has three receptions for 31 yards. Decent numbers but Boston College has stopped the last four Clemson drives. That would all be well and good if the Eagles could move the ball. Through the first two minutes of the second quarter Boston College has all of 12 total yards of offense and one first down. Justin Tuggle has been the man at quarterback through the entire first quarter and the start of the second, but do not be surprised if David Shinskie enters the game soon.  13:17 left in second quarter.
