Eagles Offense Taking Control

October 31, 2009 - 1:50 pm

CHESTNUT HILL -- The Eagles are turning in a performance reminiscent of their last home game against the NC State Wolfpack. In that game the play was very back and forth for the first quarter and a half before Boston College clamped down, scored a touchdown late in the first half and the offense took control in the third. Against Central Michigan the Eagles scored a touchdown with :50 seconds left in the first half and have come out in the third quarter to score 17 points to take a commanding 24-3 lead. Dave Shinskie hit Rich Gunnell for the first strike on a 41 yard touchdown pass down the center seam and Montel Harris had a 4-yard touchdown run on the next series. Steve Aponavicius hit a field goal to cap the third quarter scoring. Aponavicius is now the Boston College career scoring leader. He tied the mark on the Gunnell score, broke it on the Harris score and added to it with his own field goal. The previous mark was held by Brian Lowe, an Eagles kicker from 1986-89, with 262 points.
