Following their 3-0 win over the Flyers Thursday night, the Bruins were back on the ice Friday morning.

Defenseman Charlie McAvoy and forward David Backes were not present, indicating they will be missing more time. McAvoy has already been ruled out for Saturday. The pair sustained upper-body injuries on the four-game Western Canadian road trip and right now there is no definitive timeline on when they will return.

On the other hand, Torey Krug was at practice and his status remains questionable for Saturday night’s game against the Canadiens, but Cassidy told reporters there is a chance he will play.

Krug sustained an ankle injury during the preseason and has yet to make an appearance this year. If Krug does play against the Canadiens on Saturday, it’ll be a big defense booster for the Bruins, who are currently struggling with injuries on the back end.

Both Zdeno Chara and Chris Wagner did not practice as both took maintenance days, according to Cassidy. It was a well-deserved day off for the captain, who recorded two goals in Thursday night’s win over the Flyers.

With the Canadiens in town, Tuukka Rask will get the start in goal on Saturday night despite Jaroslav Halak’s stellar play. Cassidy said he’s hesitant to commit to Halak taking over Rask's starting spot.
