The Bruins announced Friday that center Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson has been recalled from the Providence Bruins.

The 22-year-old has played in nine games for Providence this season, tallying one goal and three assists. In his first season with Providence, he recorded 32 points (15 goals, 17 assists) through 58 games. Forsbacka Karlsson isn’t new to NHL play as he made his debut last season against the Washington Capitals.

Forsbacka Karlsson previously played two seasons for Boston University, tallying 63 points (24 goals, 39 assists) altogether. The native of Sweden has also represented his home country in international play multiple times.

Bruce Cassidy confirmed that Forsbacka Karlsson will play in Saturday’s tilt against the Toronto Maple Leafs as the third-line center.

The center was drafted in the second round (45th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
