As the Bruins sit one win away from the Stanley Cup Final, the front office received a bit of recognition Thursday evening when Don Sweeney was named a finalist for General Manager of the Year.

Also nominated is St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong and Carolina Hurricanes GM Don Waddell.

Sweeney's job as GM has been a vital reason why the Bruins are one win from clinching the Eastern Conference title.

Last summer, he went out and bolstered the team's fourth line with Joakim Nordstrom and Chris Wagner. He also gave Tuukka Rask a chance at rest during the season by signing former starter Jaroslav Halak.

At the trade deadline, he bolstered the depth at center by trading for Charlie Coyle and at left wing with Marcus Johansson.

Sweeney took the throne of Bruins GM in May 2015.
