Lots of questions loom about the future of many members of the New England Patriots. None are quite as big as what the cards read for Rob Gronkowski in 2019.

Rob Ninkovich joined Dale & Keefe on Monday and offered some insight into the future of the star tight end.

"I don't think he'll necessarily be a Patriot," said Ninkovich, who played with Gronkowski from 2010-16. "But on the flip side, he said he's not going to play for another team, so I could see him walking away and doing something else."

On Dec. 27, Gronk said he hadn't been thinking about his future and was "all in" for 2018.

Ninkovich added there's a reason for the uncertainty.

"You look at what happened in the preseason here," he said. "He was potentially going to another team and that doesn't bode well for moving forward."

In late September, it was reported that the Detroit Lions and Patriots were in deep trade talks that peaked during the week of the draft. They were incredibly close on completing a blockbuster deal involving Gronkowski.

The trade was cut off when Gronk said he didn't want to play anywhere other than New England.
