For the past few weeks, there's been lots of talk surrounding the problems of the New England Patriots, who suffered five losses for the first time since 2009.

But after Sunday's 38-3 thumping of the New York Jets, Tom Brady made it clear he's OK with an 11-5 finish and first-round playoff bye.

"11-5 is nothing to be sad about," Brady said. "We fought pretty hard and put ourselves in a decent position here and now we have to take advantage of it."

The Patriots earned a first round bye for the ninth straight year and Brady isn't complaining.

"We had a great opportunity for it and I was just glad we could close it out," he said. "You hate to have that opportunity and not handle what we needed to handle and I'm just glad we did and just ended up being a great way to finish the year: win two at home against our divisional opponents after two pretty tough losses."

Brady finished 24-for-33 with 250 yards and four touchdowns. He reached four TDs for the first time since Week 11 of last season, when he turned the trick in a win over the Dolphins.

Brady joins Mut & Callahan on Monday morning to discuss a challenging season that once again ends with an AFC East title and first-round bye.
