Mo Cassara, who was an assistant basketball coach under Al Skinner at Boston College the past four seasons, was named head coach at Hofstra. He replaces Tim Welsh, who resigned this week after being detained by police on suspicion of DWI  last Friday, a month after he was hired. Prior to BC, Cassara served as head coach at Division 3 Clark University in Worcester. He takes over a Hofstra team that went 19-15 last season under Tom Pecroa, who now is at Fordham. "Mo's experience in the Atlantic Coast Conference and his basketball pedigree will be great additions to Hofstra, and we look forward to an exciting era of Pride Basketball," Hofstra athletic director Jack Hayes said. "Mo has quickly gained the trust of our athletes, and we are delighted that he will lead our program."
