Although it’s just a projection, the Celtics’ next season looks optimistic.

According to ESPN’s RPM (real plus-minus) projections, Boston landed second among teams in the Eastern Conference. The team is slated to come up with 47.2 wins, which is just two games fewer than last season. Right behind Boston is Philadelphia, who is projected to pull out 46.8 wins. Meanwhile, the Bucks are projected to be the conference frontrunner with 50.7 wins.

In terms of postseason play, ESPN gave the Celtics a 94-percent chance of making the playoffs.

Boston is one of four teams projected by RPM to rank in the top 10 for both offensive and defensive ratings, according to ESPN’s Kevin Pelton. Although seemingly dysfunctional and underperforming last season, the Celtics managed to earn the same feat last year as well. Losing Al Horford, Aron Baynes, and Kyrie Irving will be an adjustment on the court next season, but the additions of Kemba Walker, Enes Kanter, and the rookies leave a lot of potential for a new-look team to develop.

As for the Western Conference, ESPN projects the Rockets will lead the way with 53.7 wins, closely followed by the Nuggets with 53.3 wins. The Lakers are projected to round out the top three with 47.9 wins.
