The Red Sox will have two outfielders representing Boston in the 2019 ESPY Awards: Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi.

Betts is a nominee for two awards: Best Male Athlete and Best MLB Player. Benintendi’s nomination falls in the Best Play category, for his diving catch to end Game 4 of the ALCS against the Astros.

The competition for Betts in the Best Male Athlete category includes Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, and golfer Brooks Koepka. For Best MLB Player, the 2018 American League MVP is up against the Brewers’ Christian Yelich, the Mets’ Jacob DeGrom, and the Rays’ Blake Snell.

Benintendi has a much larger pool of competition for the Best Play award. His catch will be up against 15 other plays in bracket-style voting, including the Dolphins’ “Miami Miracle” lateral play to defeat the Patriots in December.

The ESPY Awards will take place July 10 in Los Angeles, and fans can vote on ESPYs.com. A full list of the nominees may be found at ESPNPressRoom.com.
