The most controversial part of David Ortiz’s retirement weekend was a roast at the House of Blues in his honor. The roast scheduled to air on NESN, but it decided to pull the program after the commentary became R rated.

Nonetheless, the money raised from the roast is set to be donated to David Ortiz’s Children’s Fund. The roast raised a total of $335,000 for the fund, according to Rob Bradford.

Participants at the roast included Dustin Pedoria, Rob Gronkowski, Bill Burr, Lenny Clarke and other comedians.

The David Ortiz Children’s Fund raises money for children in New England and the Dominican Republic who do not have access to pediatric care they need. According to the charities website, the David Ortiz Children’s Fund has netted over $2 million and saved over 500 lives.
