A few months ago, a segment of Celtics fans wouldn't have dreamt of trading Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown to the Pelicans for All-Star center Anthony Davis. Now?

Even Tatum admits it would probably be the right move.

Appearing on the CLNS "Celtics Beat" podcast with Adam Kaufman, Celtics broadcaster Cedric Maxwell detailed a conversation he had with Tatum's father, which led back to the player himself.

These quotes occur around the 41-minute mark and come courtesy NBC Sports Boston, which did the transcribing:

"Jayson Tatum's dad came to me ... and said, 'Man, I've got a bone to pick with you. ... You said you'd trade my son for Anthony Davis.' And I said, 'And?' And he said, 'Well, I probably would trade him, too, if he wasn't my son."

Maxwell then took that story to Jayson, who came right out with it.

"Yeah, I'd trade me, too, for Anthony Davis," Tatum told Maxwell.

Maxwell makes it clear that he give up Tatum "all day long" if it could bring Davis to Boston. It's easy to see why. Wing players like Tatum who could average 20 points a game are in relative abundance in today's NBA, at least compared to 28 and 13 monsters like Davis.
