There's only one way Chris Sale won't start Game 6 of the American League Championship Series on Saturday -- if the Red Sox end the series on Thursday, in which case Sale will start Game 1 of the World Series against either the Dodgers or Brewers.

Speaking to reporters before Game 5 of the ALCS in Houston, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Sale has sufficiently recovered from the stomach ailment that left him briefly hospitalized and will make his next start as scheduled.

"He’s doing well," Cora said. "He played catch today, he went through everything. He’s feeling better as far as like eating solids, all that. So he’ll be ready for his next start."

Sale wasn't himself in his last start, walking four in four innings and struggling to find the strike zone in a Game 1 loss. He was too weak to start Game 5, but is rapidly recovering, Cora said.

"We’re good with it. I mean as long as he doesn’t feel weak or whatever," Cora said. "I saw him actually early in the hotel. I said ‘How you feeling?’ ‘Oh, Much better.’ And then he came here around the same time I was here, ‘How you feeling?’ ‘Much better than earlier today.’ That’s good. He doesn’t look as skinny as yesterday. Yesterday I was like, wow, you could see it in his face. But he’s in good spirits, he feels better. He’s eating better, which is great."

The Red Sox lead the series 3-1 and hope Sale won't be needed until the World Series. David Price takes the hill on Thursday with a chance to close things out.
