Isaiah Thomas won't be on the floor when the Cavaliers visit the Celtics on Wednesday. But he's already got next month's return engagement circled.

Speaking to reporters on Monday at Cavaliers practice, Thomas said he understands why he won't be allowed to play on Wednesday -- he makes his season debut on Tuesday and the Cavs don't want him playing back to back yet -- but he'll get another shot at the C's when the teams meet in Boston on Feb. 11.

"It won't be that tough because I know where I am right now," he told reporters. "I wouldn't want to put myself out there to just try to force it. I can wait until February. I think we play them in February again. I can wait and put on a show then."

Thomas has missed the entire season recovering from a hip injury that he suffered last year with the Celtics before aggravating it in the playoffs. He was traded to Cleveland over the summer in a blockbuster that brought guard Kyrie Irving to Boston.

Thomas is set to debut on Tuesday night in Cleveland against the Blazers, and will be on a strict minutes restriction. At 24-12, the Cavs begin the night four games behind the Celtics (30-10) for first place in the Eastern Conference.
