The Red Sox scratched outfielder/DH J.D. Martinez from their lineup on Wednesday with back tightness.

According to reporters in Fort Myers, including Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald, Martinez is day-to-day. He had been scheduled to start in left field vs. the Twins.

After missing more than 40 games each in 2016 and 2017, Martinez stayed healthy last year. He appeared in 150 games, batting .330 with 43 homers and 130 RBIs. He rolled his ankle running the bases in Game 1 of the World Series, but didn't miss any time en route to a homer and five RBIs in Boston's five-game victory.

For what it's worth, he's off to a slow start this spring, with just one single in 17 plate appearances.
