Jimmy Garoppolo left Sunday's game against the Chiefs on a cart after injuring his knee during a scramble in the fourth quarter.

San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game that the team feared Garoppolo had a torn ACL.

"With Jimmy we’re fearing ACL," Shanahan said. "We’ll find out tomorrow. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet. I feel for him."

Garoppolo was attempting to lead the 49ers back from a 35-10 deficit, driving them to two second-half touchdowns, when he led San Francisco inside the Kansas City 10 with six minutes remaining and the Chiefs leading 38-24.

He scrambled to his left on third and goal from the 20, but instead of stepping out of bounds inside the 10, he tried to cut back inside, where he was crunched by cornerback Steven Nelson. Garoppolo stayed down on the sidelines on his hands and knees with what initially appeared to be a shoulder injury. However, the medical staff began checking Garoppolo's left knee, which appeared to buckle on replay as he made his final cut.
