Slumping first baseman Mike Napoli, mired in a 1-for-20 slump that has dropped his average back to .200, will be on the bench when the Red Sox face the Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon. Brock Holt will get the start at first in his place for a new-look Red Sox lineup that's also missing outfielder Mookie Betts, who remains sore after a nasty collision with the diagonal center field wall in the triangle on Friday night. Napoli had seemingly turned the corner during the last week of May, when he hit .385 with four homers, but those gains have been lost, with his average dropping back to .200. Farrell wasn't sure if he'd miss more than just today's game. "I can't say that there's a change in the swing path," Farrell said. "Certainly timing is not as consistent as it was in that late-May stretch. Whether there's a little more thinking about some things in the box in the moment, could be there. But just trying to get him to free himself up mentally and trust in his abilities." As for Betts, Farrell said he's day-to-day with a lower back injury. Exams revealed no structural damage, and Farrell said the team shouldn't need to add outfield reinforcements, instead making due with the versatile Holt, as well as newcomer Alejandro De Aza. "I think we'll get a better read here in a couple of days," Farrell said. "At this point, we don't anticipate a DL." Here's the lineup in this matchup of Clay Buchholz vs. knuckleballer R.A Dickey. 2B Pedroia 1B Holt LF Ramirez DH Ortiz SS Bogaerts 3B Sandoval RF De Aza CF Castillo C Leon
