Less than a week after Cleveland's Jose Ramirez took the lead in the MLB home run race and became the first player to hit 30 this year, J.D. Martinez struck back.

Not once, but twice in one game.

In the first inning against the Orioles on Tuesday night, Martinez hit his 30th homer of the season. Then in the eighth inning, Martinez went deep again to move one ahead of Ramirez with 31.

Martinez actually hit another home run in the first inning Wednesday night, but it wound up not officially counting because the game was postponed due to rain a in the second inning. The rain may be the only thing that can keep Martinez from swinging the lumber right now.
