Donald Trump commented on the NFL’s new kneeling policy on Fox & Friends Thursday morning, saying players who do not stand for the national anthem maybe “shouldn’t be in the country.”

"You have to stand proudly for the National Anthem. You shouldn't be playing, you shouldn't be there. Maybe they shouldn't be in the country...the NFL owners did the right thing,” Trump said.

Trump has been outspoken about his stance that players should stand for the pregame  national anthem.

He said last year NFL teams should “fire or suspend” players who do not stand for the anthem.
