Former Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett was arrested early Saturday after he reportedly tackled a country music band at an open mic night in Texas.

Beckett was attending the open mic night at a country club with friends when he suddenly jumped on stage mid-performance and tackled the singer.

Police were called to the scene and arrested Beckett for public intoxication. An officer said Beckett was "a danger to himself and others."

TMZ reports the police report states Beckett admitted to diving on stage and said he hit his leg on a speaker in the incident.

As for the band’s singer, he told police he suffered serious injuries to his arm, neck and shoulder, including a torn rotator cuff and dislocated shoulder.

According to police, the incident is still under investigation.

Beckett’s lawyer claims the retired pitcher didn’t mean to hurt anyone and it was an act of horseplay. Beckett has since apologized for the act.
