AROUND THE WEB:

-- Rob Gronkowski is not ruling out a return to the NFL and a comment he posted on a recent Tom Brady Instagram photo might suggest it will be sooner rather than later.

Brady posted a photo of himself preparing for next season with the caption, “31 weeks until kickoff. That’s a lot of time to get better. #TheOnlyWayIsThrough.”

To which Gronkowski replied, “When you take year off, 52 + 31 = 83 + 4 weeks (miss pre season) now equals =87 weeks to get better Tom. Think bout that.”

Comeback or not, there’s no way he figured that math out himself.

-- Julian Edelman is also ready for the football season to begin again.

Edelman posted a photo to Instagram on Sunday asking how many more Sundays until the NFL is back.

Sooooooo how many more Sundays until football???

I bet Gronk knows.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “The proposed trades between the Dodgers, Red Sox, Twins, and Angels need to be resolved without further delay. The events of this week have unfairly put several players’ lives in a state of limbo. The unethical leaking of medical information, as well as the perversion of the salary arbitration process, serve as continued reminders that too often players are treated as commodities by those running the game.” -- Tony Clark, the executive director of the MLBPA, on the complications with the three-team trade between the Red Sox, Dodgers and Twins
